Former FC Basel midfielder Leon Avdullahu has prematurely and long-term extended his contract with Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim. The 22-year-old Kosovan, who moved from FC Basel to Hoffenheim in the summer of 2025, is considered one of the pillars of the current Hoffenheim team and continues his successful journey.
Andreas Schicker, Sporting Director of TSG Hoffenheim, expressed his delight about the contract extension: “Leon is a prime example of how a young player's development can look here at TSG. I'm very pleased that he wants to continue this successful path with us and that the team retains one of its key figures.” Schicker also highlighted Avdullahu's game intelligence, strategic abilities, and his crucial vision for the team's playing style.
Leon Avdullahu himself emphasized his commitment to the club: “When I arrived here in the summer, I said I was incredibly proud to be part of this team and TSG. Today, that is truer than ever before.” He added that everything discussed back then had come true, and he wants to continue to be an integral part of this development and contribute to the success of the team and the club.
Before his move to TSG Hoffenheim in the summer of 2025, Avdullahu was an important figure at FC Basel. There, he won the Swiss double and made 71 competitive appearances (3 goals) over two seasons in the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup. In his current season with TSG Hoffenheim, the midfielder has already made 31 appearances.
In addition to his club successes, Avdullahu is also a Kosovo national team player. In March of this year, his team narrowly missed out on qualifying for this summer's World Cup. With his extension, Avdullahu follows Albian Hajdari and Ozan Kabak, who have also signed long-term deals with Hoffenheim, underscoring the continuity within the squad.
