FC Basel appoints Danique Stein as new coach

New Coach for the Women’s Team

FC Basel 1893 announced today that Danique Stein will take over as the new coach for the AXA Women’s Super League. The 35-year-old signs a three-year contract, replacing the dismissed Omar Adlani.

Background and Experience

Stein is a well-known Basel native. From 2011 to 2017 she earned over 100 caps for the Swiss national team and won the Swiss Cup with FC Basel. After retiring, she served as head coach of the Fanion team (2021/2022) and worked in the youth sector.

Reason for the Change

Omar Adlani was sacked at the end of the last season following a costly mistake in the playoffs that led to Basel’s quarter-final exit against St. Gallen at the Grünen Tisch.
