FC Basel has signed the 21-year-old Swedish-Polish midfielder Ludwig Malachowski Thorell. The player, who recently played with Mjällby against the Lincoln Red Imps and Slovan Bratislava, is looking forward to the challenge in Switzerland. Malachowski, who describes himself as intelligent and responsible, has already gained experience in the youth and second league of Sweden. He has signed for Mjällby for the first time in foreign lands, where his team became champions and cup winners in 2025. He now wants to bring this Mjällby mentality to FC Basel by bringing the team spirit and the physical demands of the Swiss league. In his first Basel game, Malachowski showed 43 ball contacts and a pass accuracy of 94 percent, which gave him a positive start. He is already friends with his new teammate Akpe Victory and has shared activities with him. Malachowski has also listed his leisure activities, including reading, playing the guitar, watching films, and nature trips. He is looking forward to living with his girlfriend Lydia for the first time. Malachowski described the Mjällby mentality as a unity and mutual support and wants to convey this to FC Basel. He hopes to achieve the same successes with this team that Mjällby achieved in the past.
