Heiss, heisser, FC Kreuzlingen. The Promotion-League-Fussballers from the Bodensee defied not only the heat on the home Hafenareal on Saturday. With a 3:1 win against the U21 of FC Basel, the team of coach Kürsat Ortancioglu achieved a dream start to the new season under the eyes of nearly 300 spectators. Yves Seeger shortly before the break, Reda Laidouci shortly after the break and the substituted Mokhtar Boulachab in the second half scored the goals against the 'youth Bebbi', who were table fourth in the third-highest Swiss league last season. Basel's honor goal by Jean Doucoure fell practically with the final whistle, which is an unpleasant stain in the FCK's record, but that's about it. ## Kreuzlingen plays much bigger than its budget Not the result was the best for Kreuzlingen, but the way the green-whites from the Bodensee performed in their first serious match of the new season. There was no team at work that left the impression of playing in the wrong league. On the contrary. The FCK, which had only two new additions in the starting lineup (Di Nucci, Capozzi), kept the opponent at a distance practically throughout the entire game. Especially important was this at the beginning of the second half, when the guests shifted up a gear and sought the equalizer after Yves Seeger's header (39). But instead of getting into a spin, the Kreuzlingers held their ground. After a beautiful attack down the left side, the ball came to Reda Laidouci, who first deceived an opponent and then curled the ball into the far corner for the 2:0 (52). If FC Kreuzlingen maintains this coolness, the second season after the promotion could be a promising one for the club and its surroundings. ## FCK goalkeeper Fellmann causes shock moments Although Ortancioglu's team also revealed weaknesses - for example on the left defensive side, which was often quickly overcome by Basel's U21. But real danger came only from the initial nonchalance of FCK goalkeeper Fabian Fellmann, who first misjudged a long ball and saw it bounce over his head (4) and later almost fumbled the ball against a Basel striker (10). Both times, however, the goalkeeper regained control. It remains to be seen how much value Kreuzlingen's 3:1 win in the opening match really has. Last season, the Basel U21 team was the best in Switzerland. However, youth teams can change a lot. Regardless of this, the FCK has secured the first three points after the first round. After this successful experience and this performance on Saturday, the Thurgauers can travel to FC Schaffhausen on August 8 with confidence. ## FC Kreuzlingen - Basel U21 3:1 (1:0) EC-Technik-Remu-Arena - 270 spectators - SR Minder.Goals: 39.
