FC Basel has strengthened its attacking lineup by signing 20-year-old winger Aaron Malouda from Azerbaijan until 2030. The move comes as the club looks to bolster its offensive capabilities with a player who carries the legacy of his father, Florent Malouda, an 80-cap French international who won the Champions League in 2012 with Chelsea.

Aaron Malouda is the son of Florent Malouda, a former French international who played for Chelsea and contributed to their 2012 Champions League victory. The younger Malouda has already showcased his talent by playing in the youth teams of Lyon, Stade Rennais, and Lille before making his professional debut with LOSC in the Ligue 1 during the 2023 season.

During his time at Aserbaidschanian club Sabah FK last year, Malouda demonstrated his offensive prowess by scoring nine goals and providing four assists as he helped his team secure the title. Andreas Herrmann, FC Basel's Technical Director, expressed optimism about the signing: 'With Aaron Malouda, we are strengthening our attack with a tricky, versatile, and multi-faceted winger. His speed, creativity, and varied offensive play will immediately boost us.'

Malouda is expected to bring his unique skill set to Basel, adding depth to their attacking options and potentially providing an exciting new dimension to the team's game.
