FC Basel have scheduled a friendly match away to FC Winterthur for October 3. The game will be played at Stadion Schützenwiese and serves as preparation for the second half of the Super League season.

Manager Fabio Celestini's side will use the international break to gain match practice and test tactical setups. Basel currently sit fourth in the table with 13 points from nine games. Their recent form of one win, one draw and three defeats in the last five matches indicates room for improvement.

Gearing up for the run-in

The clash with top-flight side Winterthur provides a good opportunity to test squad rotation. After the international break, the next competitive fixture is away to 11th-placed FC Vaduz on October 11.

The last competitive match ended in a 1-3 home defeat to St. Gallen on September 20. The equalising goal in that game came from Žan Celar via a penalty. Celar is currently the team's top scorer this season with six goals. The friendly in Winterthur is a key step to regain a positive rhythm ahead of the next league game in Vaduz.
