The same Boukhalfa sealed the 3-1 victory with a goal in the 85th minute. Basel registered just two shots on target compared to St. Gallen's nine.
The loss leaves Basel in fourth place in the Super League with 13 points from eight matches. They now trail leaders Lugano by nine points.
