FC Basel has appointed Nicole Leuthardt as the new Chief Women's Football Officer. She will take over the leadership on September 1, 2026. Nicole Leuthardt is currently a partner at the communications agency Fadeout. She has been a member of the FC Basel 1893 board of directors since May 2024 and is therefore well acquainted with the club. For her new role at FCB, Nicole Leuthardt will end her engagement at Fadeout. Whether she will continue to be a member of the FCB board of directors is still the subject of corresponding discussions. In her new role at FC Basel, she will bring her extensive experience as an entrepreneur and manager to the organization, structuring, and further development of the FCB women's football department. "I am very much looking forward to working together with Danique Stein and the entire team to further anchor the FCB women in Basel and the region and to continue the path of professionalization," says Nicole Leuthardt. "Women's football is close to my heart, and at the WEURO last year, one could see its potential. I will use my experience and network in my FCB function to help this important area of the club gain more visibility and a greater status." VR President David Degen: "We are very pleased to have found an extremely competent and committed Basel personality for this task with Nicole Leuthardt. She has a very good understanding of leadership, organization, and structure, and I am sure that she will set the necessary levers in motion in the FCB women's department. It is important to me that we also achieve the maximum in this area in terms of sports, while also being as efficient and sustainable as possible in our economic efforts." FC Basel 1893 emphasizes that women's football will have a high status in the club in the future and that it will drive the development accordingly: Nicole Leuthardt is part of the management as Chief Women's Football Officer. In addition, FCB will engage an additional person for the sports area – the club will inform about this at a later time. FCB welcomes you already now to Rotblau, Nicole, and looks forward to your official start on September 1.
