Technical director Andreas Herrmann confirmed the state of negotiations on the club's podcast. "I think and hope that we can report progress soon," Herrmann said. "We are in a very, very good exchange with Mirko and his agent and are on the final straight regarding a contract extension."

Salvi has been part of the FC Basel squad since his return in 2022, having come through the club's own youth system. This season he saw regular action due to injury problems for first-choice keeper Jonas Omlin. In his seven league outings, Salvi conceded 13 goals and kept one clean sheet.
